LORRY WATCH
looking after your town

“Bradford on Avon Lorry Watch is a joint venture of the local councils and local people, designed to stop overweight lorries using the Town Bridge in contravention of the weight limit. Local volunteers man a rota throughout the day  and report offending vehicles to Wiltshire Council Trading Standards, who check the vehicle registration with the DVLA and after they have spoken to the driver and the haulage company they  then have the power to initiate a prosecution should the driver re-offend at a later date”

We are a band of approximately 41 volunteers – we have coerced quite a few more to join by standing on the street corner.  Everyone is very interested in what is being done, and it is a good feeling to be able to do something positive about a situation which clearly people feel strongly about.

Do stop and chat to a ‘Lorry Watcher’ and see how we are doing.  Watch this space for facts and figures emerging from our last seven weeks’ of observation.

Its quite close to the Fat Fowl so if you do get thirsty you can always ask Arlene for a hot chocolate/tea/coffee, she very kindly donates these to us.  Thank you Arlene and thanks to Scribbling Horse for their hot drinks…so much appreciated.
